Key responsibilities
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a key role in providing accurate financial information to our clients and supporting their business success. Your responsibilities will include:
- Full‑cycle bookkeeping for a variety of clients, including reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
- Prepare and maintain general ledgers, journal entries and monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports.
- File HST/GST, payroll remittances and other government compliance documents accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with managers and partners to deliver high-quality accounting services.
- Support the preparation of year‑end working papers for review and compilation engagements.
- Use client accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, etc.) and firm tools to streamline processes.
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior staff and bookkeeping team members.
- Build strong client relationships through clear communication, timely service delivery, and proactive support.
Key requirements
We are seeking a dedicated professional with the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of full‑cycle bookkeeping or related accounting experience (public practice experience an asset).
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting, bookkeeping or business administration.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, CaseWare, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll and tax compliance requirements.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and a client service mindset.
- A willingness to mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
