Key responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant, you will support our clients and firm leaders by delivering accurate and timely financial information. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the preparation of year‑end files for review, compilation and audit engagements.
- Prepare working papers, journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Assist with corporate and personal tax return preparation and filings.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax legislation, GST/HST filings and payroll remittances.
- Work directly with clients to gather information and provide support on accounting matters.
- Utilize accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, CaseWare, etc.) and firm tools to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members and partners on special projects, assurance work and advisory services.
- Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of best practices within the firm.
Key requirements
We are seeking a dedicated professional with the following qualifications:
- 1‑3 years of accounting experience in public practice or industry.
- Currently enrolled in or completion of a post‑secondary diploma or degree in accounting, business or related field.
- Enrollment in the CPA program or willingness to pursue CPA designation considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, CaseWare, etc.).
- Knowledge of Canadian tax compliance, GST/HST and payroll requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a client‑service focus.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from senior team members.
